Getting to us

Most people get to us either by car or by air but travel by train is also quite feasible.

Road

Typically, the roads in France are excellent, although some of the more popular (and fast-moving) are tolled (or peage). Souillac (just 12kms from Les Gites de Carlux) is located beside one such peage (the A20).

If you’re coming from England, the trip from Calais is around 800km and takes around 8 hours if you do it one go, and at a decent pace (albeit within national speed limits).

Train

By combining inter-city travelling with the local train network, you can get as close as Souillac by train. Brive railway statin is only 50kms away from Carlux, with car hire available here.

Air

Probably the quickest way of getting to Les Gites de Carlux is by flying, although you’re likely to need a hire car for your stay. There are several airports within a two-hour radius (Bordeaux, Bergerac, Limoges, Toulouse etc). The closest and most convenient is Brive Vallee de la Dordogne Airport, located less than 50kms from Carlux.

If you’re coming from England, during the summer, Ryanair flies to Brive from Stansted every Saturday (this co-incides with “changeover” day for our gites). The flight time is less than two hours.

You can book and pick up hire cars from Brive airport. The airport is located on the Souillac side of Brive, so is only 30kms away. Make sure you are picking up your hire car from the airport, and not from the town centre, as Brive is a good distance away and in the wrong direction!

Making a reservation

CHANGEOVER DAYS

During the high summer season the Gites run from either Saturday to Saturday or Sunday to Sunday. Outside of this period we are often able to offer midweek arrivals. Please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.

PRICES

The prices shown are mainly in sterling. The price is the weekly rate for the Gite. It is fully inclusive of everything including electricity.

PAYMENT

A deposit of 25% is payable to secure all reservations with the balance being payable 8 weeks prior to the start of your stay. We accept payment by bank transfer. (please note that we are not able to accept credit cards)

If bank charges are applicable to your payment, these will be added to the final balance.

Please make sure that you have adequate travel insurance which covers you against cancellation.

BREAKAGE DEPOSIT

A breakage deposit of £100 or 100 Euros is payable with the balance. After your departure the cleaner will check the Gite. Subject to there being no major breakages or damage and the Gite being left clean we will refund the breakage deposit within 14 days.
