Begonia has been improved and maintained by its owners Jim and Maggie Baker since they bought it.
Located at the front of the site it has stunning views over the village and castle from its large terrace. The Gite offers spacious accommodation over two floors for up to six people plus small child or baby.

LIVING & DINING
LIVING & DININGThe large living/dining room, with an open fire (feature only) has two French windows leading out onto the terrace. The large dining table seats 6 people. A highchair is available on request and the Gite has safety gates on the stairs.
The separate kitchen has a full range of crockery, glasses and cooking utensils, with fridge, microwave and full electric oven and gas hob, electric kettle & toaster. The kitchen double doors open onto the terrace.
The open plan living area has two sofas and a coffee table around an open hearth. There is a book shelf with a range of reading matter, and occasional chairs. The TV has a UK Freesat box (showing English programmes).

SLEEPING
SLEEPINGThe ground floor bedroom has a king size bed and double doors leading outside. There is a wardrobe, dressing table and bedside tables with lamps. The French windows open onto the rear of the Gite with access to the pool.
On the upper floor there is a double bedroom with bedside cabinets, lamps and a wardrobe and chest of drawers for storage. A twin bedded room is accessed through the main bedroom. There is a toilet and hand basin between the bedrooms. The Gite can accommodate an extra cot and or a folding bed to make the accommodation more flexible for families.

BATHROOMS
There is a ground floor shower room and wash basin and separate toilet. The upper floor double room has an en suite toilet and washbasin.

OUTDOOR SPACE
OUTDOOR SPACEThere is large paved and gravel terrace with flowerbeds and plants, and a stunning village view. A fixed BBQ and wooden garden furniture providing seating for 6 with easy access to the kitchen from the terrace makes outdoor dining a real pleasure. Parasols and sun loungers and a real sun trap.
The grounds of the Gites are well maintained with hedges separating each property and lots of shrubs and trees. Begonia has a dedicated parking space to the rear of the property and additional parking for visitors at the rear of the site. Suitable for children and people with walking difficulties.

HIGHLIGHTS
HIGHLIGHTSThe spacious terrace has wonderful views of the village and surrounding hills and woods. There is enough room for children to play and adults to sit and relax. The back of the gite leads to a small shared area with play equipment for young children. It is also a very short stroll to the shared swimming pool.
Heating: There are electric panel heaters. The hot water tank heats overnight.

Hi!
In 2006 we stayed at the gites for a holiday and liked it so much we wanted to buy one! We settled on Begonia but decided to enlarge the lounge by creating a separate kitchen from the adjoining storeroom, to overlook the terrace and the great views. We also put in an upstairs wc, which has proved very useful especially when our grandchildren are staying. We have since had many happy family holidays in Begonia.

“We wanted to let you know about our stay in Gite Begonia, during September. There were x4 of us (all adults) and we had a very enjoyable stay. The Gite is extremely comfortable and spacious. When we arrived, it was extremely clean and you could tell the owners take great pride in their property, it was quite homely and had a modern kitchen and space for all of us to eat meals and co habit for the week. There is one downstairs double bedroom and two upstairs bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with x2 single beds. There is also an upstairs and downstairs toilet, which is helpful, if you are staying upstairs. In our opinion, the Gite has the best location of the cluster of Gites since it is one of the closest to the swimming pool, directly opposite the entrance, across a small drive. Also as it has a front facing view (unlike several of the other gites that are in the back view) and by far the largest patio area, with a BBQ. This was great because you get the full view of Carlux and the Castle whilst sitting/eating on the patio. We hired a car and parking was really easy and accessible, no issues parking right outside. There is also Wifi and English TV so we found things to do in the evenings etc, and was able to access emails and the internet. We found the pool to be clean and well kept, it was generally warm water and plenty of space around the pool area and sunbeds/umbrellas to use. We ventured into Carlux, we went to several restaurants and found all of them to be pleasant and good food. We went to some other attractions too, during our days out, including a Brive, Sarlat and Roccamadour. The Gites have a prime location because they are central to many attractions in the Dordogne, so nowhere is more than about 50 mins drive, which is also great. We had a very enjoyable holiday, are very grateful to the owners and already, I have recommended to my family, who are looking to book next year. Many thanks!”

Anemone
Anemone is the gite closest to the pool. So if you feel like a fresh morning swim or to cool off in the evening, you are in the right gite. Our lovely terrace, with a built-in barbecue, has a stunning view over the village and castle.
Cyclamen
Cyclamen has a view across the valley to the village and chateau from its large paved terrace. An additional grassed area with trees provides welcome shade in the summer months. The gite has spacious accommodation over two floors for up to six people plus a small child or baby. The first floor has air conditioning.
Dahlia
Dahlia has been significantly modernised and improved over the past 12 years. Located in the middle of the site it has an L shaped decked terrace. The Gite offers spacious modern accommodation over two floors for up to six people plus a small child and baby.
Eglantine
Eglantine is a cozy, modern gite located in the middle of the site with a beautiful view at the 12th century castle of Carlux. Our gite offers spacious accommodation over two floors for up to six people plus a small child or baby. So if you are looking for a well-equipped, lovely gite to spend time with your family or friends, you are more than welcome to stay with us.
Fuchsia
Located in the middle of the site, Fuchsia offers spacious accommodation over two levels, sleeping up to four people. It has a sunny terrace overlooking the valley, through the trees. This cottage is ideal for a couple or a small family.
Giroflee (not available in 2024)
Giroflee (Wallflower) has been improved and maintained to a high standard and is a much loved and frequently used holiday home. Located at the front of the site it has stunning views over the village and castle.
Hortensia
Located at the front of the site, Hortensia has spectacular views of the valley from its large paved terrace. Hortensia attracts plenty of returning customers and with its built-in log fire is a popular gite for the colder months. The cottage is fully air-conditioned.
Iris
Located in front of the site, Iris has a spectacular view of the valley from its large, secluded terrace. The gite offers spacious accommodation over two floors for up to five people plus a small child or baby.
Jasmine
Located at the back of the site and next to the forest, Jasmine has a large, secluded terrace. The gite offers you privacy and spacious accommodation over two floors for up to six people.
La Tour
Located at the front of the site La Tour (The tower) has a spectacular view over the valley from its large elevated terrace. Its ideal for a couple and has a large upper floor bedroom with a double bed. La Tour is a detached Gite set to the side of the site.
Magnolia
Located adjacent to the woodland to the west of the site, Magnolia is situated slightly away from other gites. Whilst still only a stone’s throw from the pool and children’s play areas, Magnolia is ideal for families who prefer a quieter area.
